UFDC Region 12
Indiana, Michigan, Ohio
I was born into a loving family in suburban Pittsburgh PA, on August 3rd. My dad had left the old country to find his future in the United States, married my mum later in his life. My mum introduced me to dolls as an infant and they have always been a part of my life. I'm grateful for the high school guidance counselor that steered me to tech school for computers. Enjoyed my long and varied career in Information Technology and happily retired in 2017.
I joined UFDC in 1999 and held many positions in the Wayne County Doll Club of Ohio until they disbanded. Am now a member of Cleveland and Northern Ohio Doll Clubs. Have attended 14 UFDC National & two UFDC Regional conventions, currently the registrar for the UFDC Region 12 Convention to be held May of 2024. While attending conventions, have volunteered as clerk, monitor, table host, competition entries galore, and workshop presenter. Active member of several online doll chat groups and attended non-UFDC conventions including Betsy McCall, Tonner and MDCC.
Sewing and creating are my additional hobbies that blend well with doll collecting. A few years ago was thrilled to win the presidential award and blue ribbon for my adaptation of Miss Unity. Another major endeavor was to create 100 Edith Flack Ackley dolls for the Doll Circle of Indianapolis "Lucy Locket" luncheon.
I believe that doll collecting can be a common ground to set aside our problems and relax with like minded enthusiasts. Let me know your thoughts on how to strengthen our organization?
