UFDC Region 3
New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas
Hello,
I am introducing myself as the UFDC Region 3 Director; and thought of telling you a bit about myself.
A UFDC member since 1991, I initially joined the Second Childhood Doll and Miniature Club of Greeley, Colorado. Contributions and highlights include positions as Secretary, Historian, and President of the club; as well as Club Luncheon Chair, and UFDC Convention Meal Event Sponsor Chair (2X). Coincidingly serving as UFDC Region 6 Director, 2018-2021.
Currently, my UFDC membership is with the Bluebonnet Doll Collectors Club and the Granbury Doll Club in Texas, after moving to Fort Worth. I also belong to the National Doll & Toy Collectors Club of NYC; an online club, serve on the UFDC Membership Committee and belong to Daughters of the American Revolution.
As a team member of the UFDC Membership Committee, we developed the Plus One program, World Doll Day events, and completed the Regional Director Manual re-write/update. Many of you may already know of my work on Zoom, and "Adventures in Dolls", UFDC's YouTube channel. I produce, edit, source content and promote "Adventures in Dolls". As of July, 2023, the channel boasts 56 videos with several more awaiting editing & final production.
Presenting doll programs has been exciting and educational. Here are some presentation titles: Hitty, Baps, Ellowyne Wilde, Toni, Pinocchio, Raynal, Bleuette, Steiner, Helen Kish, Maggie Iacono, the History of German Dolls, Felt and Cloth Dolls, and Kachina Dolls. Video programs are: "Daisy, the Doll Who Came to Life", "Are Leprechaun's Real?", "Ruby Red Fashion Friends", "Spooktacular Dolls and the Real Halloween", "Casanova, the Bachelor", World Doll Day 2022 & 2023, and Jane Easterly & PUDDLE. Also, interviews with Frances Cain: "A Girl for All Time" founder and CEO, Goldie Wilson: doll artist, Alicia and Charlie Carver: the UFDC 2023 convention souvenir artists, Maritza Guitierrez: Creator of "Maru and Friends", and BJD artist: Judy Porter.
A degreed Interior Designer, becoming a Certified Lighting Consultant, Lighting Designer, and, of course, a doll collector; now retired.
I look forward to visiting your club and getting to know your passion for collecting, what your needs are, and how my assistance and communication with the central office can benefit you. Sharing our enthusiasm, while educating and promoting doll collecting makes our hobby exciting. Having been integral in opening new doll clubs in Casper, Wyoming and Granbury, Texas; I understand the need to foster, recruit, and nurture our hobby for collectors, now, and in the future. Keeping the exciting world of doll collecting fun and inviting is of utmost importance. I look forward to many delightful dolly adventures in region 3.
